JAR Architecture

Whistler

The existing property was an old farmhouse situated in 3 acres of land. Unfortunately, the property was very dated and insufficient for modern day living. The client wanted a home renovation but it was important to try and keep the existing building but add the additional spaces to achieve their ideal home. The brief was to maintain a “rustic farm house feel” yet meet the demands of today’s modern day living.

JAR Architecture proposed a new scheme which eventually doubled the floor space. Due to the land available and nature of the scheme it stayed a single storey development which took careful planning of orientation and room location to achieve the correct light levels and feel of a country home. Material selection and process of application were carefully detailed to achieve the required finish. Timber was sourced from a dismantled barn and detailed drawings provided for the new timber beams to be constructed.
