Construction update - Rhos On Sea

New build apartments: Architects journal entry

Last week (during a rather beautiful sunny day) JAR Architecture attended a site visit at our apartment project in Rhos on Sea, North Wales (known as Breakers). During the visit we surveyed the steelwork and layout of each apartment, envisioning the transformation from design to finished home. The views are breathtaking, with all apartments having sea views.

We inspected the curved standing seam zinc roof which makes the apartments unique to the area and were pleased to see the progress being made. The curvature adds a sense of fluidity and elegance to the roofline, creating a visually striking element that enhances the overall design of the building. Reminiscent of a wave the curvature is reflected in the penthouse below. We were also able to see the curved glass feature window in the penthouse and marvel at the unrestricted sea view.

We were able to walk on the generous balconies and get a sense as to how they will be used in the future, with the balconies wrapping around the apartments, it gives fantastic views all the way down into Rhos On Sea. The site was clean, tidy with plenty of activity.

The design team discussed potential design features, materials and finishes which would evoke the glamour and sophistication of the art deco era while accommodating contemporary lifestyles. Due to the unique nature of the apartments and the views we discussed them having names (rather than just numbers). We came up with the following which our client absolutely loved; Wavecrest, Seaspray, Shoreline, Tideview and Driftwood.

We are looking forward to the windows arriving on site soon and the render being applied once the scaffolding is dropped.
